The city of Colmar is located northeast of France, about 600 km from Paris, in the department of Haut-Rhin Alsace. Center of the city is very well preserved and contine several buildings, some of German Gothic and Renaissance style. Among highlights the collegiate church of St. Martin (thirteenth century) as the largest and most notable.
The famous Isemheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald is the most outstanding treasure housed in the Museum Unterlinden city, open since 1853.
In 1834, he was born in Colmar Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, inventor of the popular Statue of Liberty.
Touristically Colmar is known as "Little Venice" because the city is crossed by many streams, which make the save scale and style, in a city that resembles this Italian city.
